The head of state announced this on Telegram, as reported by Ukrinform.
“I honored soldiers of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with state awards, presented the Order of the Golden Star to the family of a fallen Hero who was posthumously awarded this title, and handed over battle flags to units,” he wrote.
In his speech, Zelenskyy noted that today, June 11, Ukraine is celebrating the Day of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time. The President emphasized that the USF demonstrate Ukraine’s leadership in technology and in saving lives through technology. According to him, since 2022, the use of drones has transformed from auxiliary application to a means of conducting combat operations.
“The Unmanned Systems Forces are one of Ukraine’s greatest achievements – they prove Ukraine’s leadership in technology and in saving lives through technology. The number of destroyed Russian targets thanks to our USF of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is already in the hundreds of thousands annually, and just in the past year, from June to June, this figure exceeds 356,000 destroyed Russian targets,” the head of state added in his post.
The President thanked everyone serving in the USF, from soldiers and sergeants to Madjar and all commanders.
“And we will certainly remember every Ukrainian warrior who gave his life so that Ukraine could live and be independent and strong,” he remarked.
As Ukrinform reported, the Day of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was established by Presidential Decree No. 485/2026 dated June 10, 2026, which entered into force upon its publication.
The President awarded the 1st Separate Center and the 414th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Systems of the USF with the honorary distinctions “For Courage and Bravery.”
