In another match of the second Grand Slam series tournament of the 2026 season, Starodubtseva (world No. 55) achieved a come-from-behind victory over the world’s second racket, Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan, in 2.5 hours – 3:6, 6:1, 7:6 (10:4), Ukrinform reports.
The Ukrainian has successfully started the tournament in the French capital for the second year in a row. Last year, Yulia also managed to reach the third round of these competitions.
Starodubtseva’s next opponent will be determined in the confrontation between American Hailey Baptiste (No. 26) and Chinese Xiyu Wang (No. 148).
Recall, Roland Garros will continue until June 7.
The title of the reigning champion of the French Open tennis tournament is defended by American Coco Gauff.
