South Korea supplied 60 pickup trucks to the National Police for wartime operational duties Photos, video 06.27.2026 17:02 Ukrinform The Head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Park Kyu-chang, on the occasion of the transfer of 60 pickup trucks to Ukraine, which are intended to enhance the mobility and responsiveness of police combat units performing duties in wartime conditions.

“The Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhivskyi, met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Park Kyu-chang, Advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine Ms. Park Chan-sil, and Head of the Office of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Ukraine Mr. Tekin Lee,” the statement reads.
It is noted that the key event of the visit was the handover of 60 pickup trucks to the National Police of Ukraine, which will strengthen the mobility and operational capabilities of police combat units performing tasks in high-risk areas and participating in ensuring state security.
“On behalf of the National Police of Ukraine and myself, I express sincere gratitude for this assistance. This is a manifestation of solidarity and true partnership on your part. I assure you that the transferred vehicles will be used responsibly and effectively – to serve the people, enhance security, and support the work of Ukrainian police officers,” emphasized the Head of the National Police.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of the National Police – Head of the Patrol Police, Oleksandr Fasetsvych, and the Deputy Director of the Department of International Police Cooperation – Head of the Unit for Interaction with Interpol and Europol, Ivan Gulpa.
The head of the National Police noted that Ukraine has been resisting a full-scale, technological, and extremely dynamic war for five years. During this time, the National Police has become one of the key elements of national resilience, performing a wide range of tasks – from documenting war crimes and evacuation measures to participating in stabilization and security operations in frontline regions.
“The threats that previously seemed regional are now part of broader global security. That is why cooperation between our states is important not only for Ukraine or the Republic of Korea but also for strengthening international security as a whole,” he stressed.
In turn, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Park Kyu-chang, noted that the transfer of vehicles is another step in supporting Ukrainian law enforcement officers by the Korean people and government.
“It is a great pleasure for me, on behalf of the government of the Republic of Korea, to hand over these pickup trucks to the National Police of Ukraine. I hope that the assistance we have provided will be practically useful for better guaranteeing security and protecting citizens’ lives. I would also like to express my respect to the Ukrainian police for continuing to serve the Ukrainian people with dignity in such difficult wartime conditions, protecting people’s lives, and ensuring law and order,” he said.
The Ambassador also emphasized that the handed-over vehicles are not just material aid but a symbol of support for the Ukrainian people.
“The assistance we are providing is not just cars, but a sign of solidarity from the Korean people. We will continue to stand by the Ukrainian people on their path to freedom,” noted Park Kyu-chang.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed prospects for further cooperation development. Vyhivskyi emphasized that Ukraine is ready to share unique practical experience in countering modern security threats – from the use of drone systems and countering missile attacks to documenting war crimes and combating hybrid challenges.
“I am convinced that the partnership between the National Police of Ukraine and Korean partners can be mutually beneficial, practical, and strategic for the security of our states and for broader international security,” concluded the head of the National Police.
As Ukrinform reported, Russian troops struck the “White Angel” special police unit, which evacuates residents of border communities in the Sumy region daily.
