At the same time, the state strives for global stability and is working on new security agreements with partners.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening video address, Ukrinform reports.
“Currently, our team is finalizing the arrangements from the visits these days. The head of Naftogaz is working with the Turkish side to implement everything we discussed the day before yesterday in Istanbul. Joint work with Turkey is one of the guarantees of our energy security and logistical security. There is a good basis for taking new joint steps,” Zelensky noted.
He emphasized that the recent meeting with President Erdogan was one of the most positive in all the years and thanked him for it.
“Our diplomatic team is also working on Syria to strengthen our interaction. We have already restored full relations; we need to restore a permanent diplomatic presence and continuous engagement,” Zelensky remarked.
According to him, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov is currently continuing to work in the region to foster common security steps with relevant countries and expand both defense and economic relations.
“We already have agreements with Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar, and Jordan. Oman and Bahrain also show interest. For the first time in history, Ukraine is not just represented in the Middle East and Gulf region but is a desired and strong partner there,” the Head of State emphasized.
The President noted that Ukraine was among the first to principledly support the region when attacks from the Iranian regime began – “and we did it in reality. We also supported Syria when the Assad regime was overthrown. The interests of the Iranian people should also be considered now so that everything is done with dignity.”
“We are striving for a dignified peace for ourselves, and this is precisely what we are promoting diplomatically. Our goal is absolutely clear: stability and peace are needed in Europe, stability and peace are needed in the Middle East and the Gulf, as well as in other globally significant regions, so that the world does not experience such problems due to destabilized markets, destroyed energy infrastructure, disrupted navigation, nuclear threats, or food insecurity,” Zelensky stated.
He stressed that all peoples deserve security – “and there will be new security agreements from us that will definitely strengthen Ukraine.”
“Currently, many different states want to cooperate with Ukraine as a security partner, but we are open to joint work with all those who support our sovereignty, our independence, and respect our people. I thank you for Ukraine becoming like this and for Ukraine being so respected,” the President concluded.
As Ukrinform reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that if Russia is ready to stop striking Ukrainian energy facilities, Ukraine is ready to respond in kind. The relevant proposal has been conveyed to the aggressor country through the Americans.
