Sybiha: Ukrainian drones and anti-drone systems are our ‘oil’ Exclusive 29.03.2026 11:51 Ukrinform Ukraine has proven its significance not only for European security but also for broader regional processes, particularly in the Middle East; Ukrainian drones and countermeasures are essentially a strategic asset that must be leveraged for national benefit. This was stated by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in an interview with Ukrinform. “We have offered our partners in the Gulf states not just words of solidarity and support, but concrete security solutions. And this is valued, and it works. And this is not just about the war, but about our role in shaping security and the agenda from Europe to the Middle East,” he said. According to the head of the MFA, there is now a clear understanding of Ukraine’s importance, and its agency is being filled with concrete substance. “We possess unique military capabilities, and this is our geopolitical tool. Our drones and the systems to counter them are, in essence, our Ukrainian ‘oil’. Our strategic resource that must be converted into a clear national Ukrainian interest to strengthen our army, our economy, and, undoubtedly, to bring about lasting peace,” Sybiha emphasized. He noted that Ukraine’s voice was also heard in discussions at the G7 summit regarding the negative consequences of blocking the Strait of Hormuz. “We have already demonstrated how significant we are in resolving the security situation in the Middle East. And, by the way, one of the key, very ‘prominent’ points was the discussion of President Zelenskyy’s visit to the Middle East and the agreements he concluded with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar,” Sybiha said. According to him, this generated an extremely positive response and appreciation. “Ukraine is a contributor to global security and regional security, and we must proceed from the understanding that security in Europe and security in the Middle East are interconnected. Our interest is to position ourselves correctly in this region, to build long-term relationships with these countries appropriately. And also to use this situation to enhance our defense capabilities,” stressed the head of Ukrainian diplomacy. As reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is not losing drone markets. Specifically, ten-year contracts have already been concluded with three Middle Eastern countries.
